Ian Cook


Christine M. GarrisonIan Cook is a Professor-in-Residence at the UCLA School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry where he holds the Miller Family Endowed Chair in Depression Research and is Director of the UCLA Depression Research and Clinic Program. Ian brings a record of innovation in the use of technology in the management of psychiatric illnesses. He has collaborated for years with Christopher DeGiorgio in developing Trigeminal Nerve Stimulation (TNS) therapies. In other work, he launched the rTMS treatment program at UCLA for depression and has pioneered the development of biomarkers for guiding treatment in depression. A former member of the Executive Committee of the Practice Guidelines Project of the American Psychiatric Association, Ian is now Vice-Chair of Staff of the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital and Chair-Elect of the Faculty Committee at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Ian received a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University and an MD from Yale University.
